Marian Bietkowski

Born in Lvov in 1927, Marian Bietkowski lived there until repatriation in 1946. In 1945-1946, he studied at the Lvov Institute of Arts in the faculty of painting and artistic graphics. After his arrival at Gliwice in 1946, he graduated from the Silesian Technical University at the Civil Engineering Faculty. A staff member of the University since 1948 in the faculty of Geometry, he has specialized in the issues of sight theory of painting and afterwards, in the issues of colour application theories.

In 1975-1992 he headed the Laboratory of Light, Colour and Perspective in the Faculty of Geometry of the Silesian Technical University.

Upon presentation of his works, Marian Bietkowski was accepted to be a member of the Union of Polish Artists in 1956. Since then he has been a member of the Gliwice-Zabrze Branch. He specializes in interior designs, publishing and artistic graphics (ex-libris) and painting in particular. The themes of his painting are mainly landscapes, flowers and old buildings. His favorite techniques are watercolors and acryl, as well as dry pastels.
